* * * FAKE NOTES USED IN ASTON & SHARDLOW * * *

The SNT responded to several incidents last night regarding a male visiting several pubs in the area using fake £50 notes. The male would buy things of a limited value with the notes and collect change in return. 

The male is described as being white, tall, mid 30s / early 40s with a beard. He was wearing a baseball cap and had a strong Irish accent. The notes he gave appeared to be from Northern Ireland and Edinburgh. 

Officers are attending local businesses today to hand out note checkers at assist preventing further crimes.
